Good for: Simple on/off control for lamps
Tapo P125M
A Matter plug that connects through 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi.
- Before you buy
- Check the regional electrical rating. Matter support does not imply Thread or energy measurement.
Amazon option: Tapo P125M — US three-pack
Matter over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. This listing is the US three-pack; check the electrical load and your Matter controller before buying.

Good for: A plug for a Thread-based setup
Eve Energy — current Matter model
A Matter-over-Thread plug with power/energy measurement in supported software.
- Before you buy
- Requires compatible Thread/Matter infrastructure. Confirm which energy measurements your controller exposes. Older HomeKit models are different.
Good for: Door access in a compatible Apple/Matter setup
Aqara Smart Lock U400
Matter over Thread, with Apple home key and manufacturer-documented UWB unlocking.
- Before you buy
- UWB requires specific compatible Apple devices, software and a Thread-enabled Apple home hub. Check the exact compatibility list; future wallet promises are not treated as shipping features.
Good for: Retrofitting a compatible roller blind
Eve Motionblinds Upgrade Kit — Matter version
A rechargeable roller-blind retrofit motor with Matter over Thread and a physical pull control.
- Before you buy
- Choose the correct tube-size kit and supported blind dimensions. Requires compatible Matter-controller and Thread-border-router functions.
Plan your setup
Protocol and network are different
Matter standardizes supported device functions across participating platforms. It commonly runs over Wi-Fi or Thread; Bluetooth is often used during commissioning. Thread is an IPv6 mesh network, not another name for Matter. A Thread device can use a different application protocol. Zigbee and Z-Wave devices usually need a suitable coordinator or bridge; a Thread border router does not pair them directly.
Two roles to check
A Matter controller manages your accessory in a platform. A Thread border router connects a Thread mesh to the rest of your network. One product can perform both roles, but check the exact model. A Wi-Fi Matter plug does not need Thread just because it supports Matter. Bridged accessories may expose a limited set of functions through Matter while keeping richer settings in the manufacturer app.
Platform support still matters
The specification is ahead of some shipping integrations. Matter 1.5 introduced cameras and video doorbells; 1.5.1 improved camera behavior in March 2026. That does not guarantee a specific camera works in every platform today. Check both the accessory’s certification and your controller’s support for its device type and required features. Energy reports, scenes and camera recording may differ by platform.
Keep discovery working
Thread needs local IPv6. Avoid disabling it as a blanket troubleshooting step. Guest networks and isolated VLANs can block local discovery even when internet access works. Follow your controller’s instructions for sharing Thread credentials and adding a second platform; merely buying two border routers does not ensure they join the same mesh.
