Aqara G410 Doorbell Camera

The included chime does two jobs: it announces visitors and serves as an Aqara Zigbee and Matter hub. That makes the G410 a sensible option for an Apple Home household planning to add Aqara sensors without buying another hub. It supports HomeKit Secure Video, Alexa and Google Home, and connects over 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz Wi-Fi. Local recordings go on a microSD card up to 512GB, sold separately, tucked inside the indoor chime rather than the outdoor camera.

Buy it for that integration, not the promise of exceptional footage. The advertised 2K resolution drops to 1600×1200 when connected to Apple HomeKit, including in Aqara Home if you use both platforms simultaneously. MacRumors found daylight footage fairly crisp and comparable to Ring, while infrared night footage was adequate for identifying nearby visitors rather than especially detailed. The mmWave radar adds human-presence detection, with sensitivity adjustable in the Aqara app.

Battery operation is the bigger reason to pause. Several owners on Aqara’s forum reported replacements within weeks or one to two months, while one reported roughly three months. Those reports cannot establish a typical lifespan, but they make hardwiring the safer choice for low-maintenance use. MacRumors’ review unit survived rain and heat during testing; PCWorld nevertheless recommended mounting under an eave or awning. This suits an Apple Home setup with existing wiring and a sheltered entrance. Skip it if you expect months of unattended battery operation or full-resolution 2K footage in Apple Home.
